Thenuga is a vina disciple of Dr. Karaikudi Subramanian at Brhaddhvani – Research and Training Centre for Musics of the World in Chennai, India, under whom she began her structured learning in the Karaikudi vina tradition in 2016, starting from the fundamentals. Brhaddhvani has introduced her to a wide range of musical activities, providing her with opportunities to engage in various initiatives led by Dr. Subramanian, both in India and during his international tours. These include outreach programmes, cross-cultural exchanges, workshops, lecture-demonstrations and performances.

A graduate of the 'Masters by Research in Music’ programme at University College Cork in Ireland, Thenuga is now pursuing a ‘PhD in Arts Practice’ at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick  in Ireland.
